Funeral procession held for business owner killed in Somerset County crash

A funeral procession took place Monday afternoon for a local business owner who died in a Somerset County crash Thursday.

Pat Herring was the owner of Herring Motor.

His casket was placed on the back of one of his tow trucks.

Dozens of semitrucks followed.

State police in Somerset say Herring died Thursday when he crashed while driving a tow truck on Route 31 near Mount Zion Road in Jefferson Township.

Troopers say he drifted into the other lane and collided head-on with a logging truck.

The 72-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
