Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities in Centre County are investigating the deaths of two inmates who reportedly passed away earlier this week.
According to officials, the first death occurred on Wednesday at the Centre County Correctional Facility after 46-year-old Larry David was found unresponsive in his cell.
Investigators say life-saving measures were conducted but were unsuccessful.
Officials say David has been incarcerated since April of 2021 and was awaiting trial on drug-related charges.

Developers discuss plans for outdoor performing arts venue at Bellefonte's Talleyrand Park

Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — Plans for a new outdoor performing arts venue in Centre County are off to a great start as developers predict the venue will hit the right note in being a catalyst for other future projects.
“It’s just my belief, and others believe, that Bellefonte has always had a strong history for promoting the performing arts.”
Now, the believers here are developing this project, the “Stage at Talleyrand,” envisioned as an outdoor, multi-functioning venue in Bellefonte’s Talleyrand Park that could host performing artists and other events from across Centre County.
Rene Portland, who built Penn State into a women’s basketball powerhouse during a 27-year tenure, has died after a three-year fight with cancer.
She was 65. D’Anjolell Memorial Home of Broomall in Pennsylvania confirmed her death Sunday.
Portland coached the Lady Lions’ first All-Americans, achieved their first No. 1 ranking and reached their first Final Four. Of her 693 wins, 606 came as coach of the Lady Lions.
“The Penn State Athletics family extends our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Coach Portland,” Director of Athletics Sandy Barbour said in a statement.
RICHLAND, Pa (WJAC) — Employees with the Johnstown Walmart, located in Richland Township, confirmed to 6 News that the store will be closing Saturday at noon, in response to the scheduled protests downtown.
The store closing is a precautionary measure, store associates added.
Our 6 News crew confirmed that most of the Richland Town Center Plaza is now closed.

BERLIN, Pa. (WJAC) — Most people can share at least one story about a run-in with someone famous. Even fewer people can say they're related to someone famous.
A Somerset County man is in that niche group, and you'd be hard pressed to find someone more well-known than his cousin.
Without giving away his last name, Ralph, a Berlin resident since 1983, took a very big interest in his family's genealogy.
