SOMERSET, Pa. (WJAC) — A funeral procession took place Monday afternoon for a local business owner who died in a Somerset County crash Thursday. Pat Herring was the owner of Herring Motor. His casket was placed on the back of one of his tow trucks. Dozens of semitrucks followed. State police in Somerset say Herring died Thursday when he crashed while driving a tow truck on Route 31 near Mount Zion Road in Jefferson Township.
WASHINGTON (TND) — The mother of a 7-year-old girl was arrested and is facing charges after her daughter's body was found decaying in a vacant apartment closet. Alondra Hobbs, 27, was charged with felony murder and cruelty in the second degree, DeKalb County Police Department said. The department's spokesperson told The Associated Press that Hobbs was at a hospital. According to a police report, the body of Alivia Hobbs-Jordan was discovered by officers at the Hidden Valley Apartment Complex outside of Atlanta on June 25 after a neighbor reported the dead child in the empty apartment.

The owner, Chad Lamb, said he's thrilled to turn his passion into a business. "For the last 17 years, I’ve just been baking as much as I can,” said Lamb. “I just love it." The Penn State Nittany Lions suffered their first defeat to the Ohio State Buckeyes Saturday. Heisman candidate, Marvin Harrison Jr. Led the Buckeyes to a 20-12 victory. Harrison Jr. Recorded 11 catches for 162 yards and a touchdown. Penn State’s Curtis Jacobs nearly scored a defensive touchdown in the first half, but a defensive holding penalty on Kalen King negated the score. Ohio State (7-0) would score that same drive, going into the second half with a 10-3 lead.

The route will proceed as follows: 11th Street to 17th StreetAcross the 17th Street bridge to 1st AvenueMake a U-turn on 1st Avenue and head north on 17th Street towards 6th AvenueTurn right on 6th Avenue and travel east to 13th StreetTake 13th Street to 9th Avenue, then turn left back onto 17th StreetFinally, take 17th Street north to 11th Avenue, make a right and head back to Heritage PlazaOrganizers are warning motorists to expect delays and if possible, seek alternate routes.
WASHINGTON (TND) — Legislators, labor organizers and advocates in Illinois are urging President Joe Biden, through a resolution, to authorize the establishment of a parole and work authorization program for noncitizen migrants residing in the state. Advocates said creating a program is urgent because it would help address the state's labor shortage that is impacting sectors such as health care, education and hospitality. Cambria Co., PA (WJAC) — A groundbreaking ceremony was held Monday for a Cambria County dog park that's been four years in the making. The Ebensburg Dog Park is being constructed on borough property near Lake Rowena. Plans include large and small dog areas, dog drinking stations, benches and pavilions on an acre and a half of land. Chances will be raffled off for a chance to be the first large and small dog into the new park, and officials say this is just one more great amenity for the area.
SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — A movie weapons armorer is appealing her conviction for involuntary manslaughter in the fatal shooting of a cinematographer by Alec Baldwin on the set of the Western film "Rust," according to court documents released Tuesday. A defense attorney filed the shortly worded appeal notice as Hannah Gutierrez-Reed serves an 18-month sentence at a New Mexico penitentiary for women. Her attorneys have 30 days to submit detailed arguments.

The school is one of several across the country experiencing upheaval over continued fighting in the Middle East as the academic year draws to a close. The demonstrations have even prompted federal lawmakers to introduce legislation intended to empower the U.S. Department of Education to monitor antisemitism at colleges receiving federal funding.
