UNIVERSITY PARK -- The State College Spikes brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth inning, but could not overcome a late deficit as they took a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the Mahoning Valley Scrappers on Monday night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
The Spikes (2-2) were held to just one hit over the first eight innings, but came alive when Delvin Perez singled and came in to score on an error following Justin Toerner’s single.

ESBJERG, Denmark (TND) — Semi-pro darts player Deta Hedman forfeited a match at the Denmark Open darts competition Saturday after being matched with a transgender opponent.
Hedman took to X before the competition to share her support of defending women’s athletics.
“People on FB been changing their profile pic to this,” Hedman noted of an image reading “protect women’s sports.”
“Getting great support,” she added.At the competition, Hedman was set to face openly transgender player Noa-Lynn van Leuve in the quarterfinals, according to Live Darts.

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — Pennsylvania State Police said one person has died from a propane explosion at the Bird-in-Hand Family Inn in Leacock Township. The explosion happened around 8:00 a.m. Monday and required a response from more than 20 fire companies. "It was just this tremendous boom. The smoke was billowing, you could see the tops of the flames from back where we live," said Stephen Caldwell, who lives near the inn.

TEL AVIV (TND) — Interrogation footage released by the Israel Defense Forces shows two Hamas terrorists admitting to raping and murdering civilians during the October 7 invasion of Israel.
The videos, which were first reported by The Daily Mail, feature two men identified as 47-year-old Jamal Hussein Ahmad Radi and his 18-year-old son Abdallah. Both confess to committing gruesome acts when Hamas terrorists attacked Israeli settlements last year.

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- Even when you're used to seeing deer, sometimes you must do a double take.
This rare "pitch black" deer was recently spotted and photographed in northern Michigan by viewer John Roach.
Steve Griffith, a Wildlife Biologist with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR), says the black deer spotted is a rarity, called a "melanistic whitetail.” He says they’re even harder to spot than albino deer.
